Mutiple Alarm Apartment Fire (WI)

Firefighters from six departments spent about two hours fighting the blaze in the three-story complex in the 200 block of W. North St. near downtown Waukesha , officials said. Nobody was injured, and most residents were not home at the time the fire was reported, they said. The Red Cross and Salvation Army were called to assist those displaced by the fire.

Authorities said the fire started around 4:15 p.m. inside a second floor bedroom of the building near North Street and St. Paul Avenue.

Crews said they arrived at the complex within about two minutes of getting the initial call because the apartment building is just one block away from the fire station.

Still, in that time, authorities said the fire had time to consume large parts of the second and third floors, hit the attic and spread throughout the rest of the building. Authorities said the fire started around 4:15 p.m. inside a second floor bedroom of the building near North Street and St. Paul Avenue.
